Craft Fair Pulls in the Punters
Hastings Craft Weekend, part of Sussex Craft Week and sponsored by Tillingham Wines and ROSA Magazine, was launched with a packed private view on 23 May at the Observer Building. The event saw 40 local heritage craft and designer makers, spanning furniture, textiles, jewellery, ceramics and even ethical taxidermy.

With over 800 visitors across three days, the fair provided a showcase for the town’s creative community. Organiser James Thomas has ambitious plans to further develop the event over the coming five years.
“I’m really pleased that the weekend was such a success for these incredible craft makers and designers,” he says. “Sales were good, commissions are being looked into and plenty of conversations were had. Hastings has much to offer in the heritage craft space, and, with skilled workers in short supply in many areas, now is definitely the time to train on craft making.”
