Celebration Day at Bohemia Walled Garden
Summerfields Woods, Sunday 21st October, 11am-3pm.
After much activity and hard work by many, the Celebration Day will be an opportunity to mark the restoration of the Eastern Wall and path build. Along with this achievement, we will celebrate traditional skills, giving you a chance to experience and learn about willow weaving with Julie Gurr, spinning with the Hastings 1066 Spinners, and woodland conservation
with Hastings Conservation Volunteers, plus there will be a children’s art activity. At 11.30 there will also be a talk on tree pruning by Peter May of Brighton Permaculture Trust and Sussex Apples.
From 1pm there will be a ceremony to acknowledge all who have been part of the project. This will include a talk from Mary Sue Powell, a distant relative of the Brisco family, which owned the walled garden in Victorian times. Sussex trees will be planted by Mary Sue and Nigel Sinden, our mayor, and there will be celebration cake to share. Refreshments will be available from 11-1pm.
A filmmaker will be present to record this event.
We hope you have enjoyed reading this article. The future of our volunteer led, non-profit publication would be far more secure with the aid of a small donation. It only takes a minute and we would be very grateful.
