Hastings Country Park secures National Lottery support
Environmental charity Groundwork South, working in partnership with Hastings Borough Council, has received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £277,000 for  ‘Hidden Hastings Heritage’. Taking place across Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve over the next two years, the project focuses on the hidden stories and physical reminders of the park’s varied and often little known past, and will offer exciting new activities and events in the park for schools, community groups, local people and visitors.

The project interpretation and signage has been installed in a number of key locations together with improvements to access paths. Previously unknown stories include the park’s role in the growth of Victorian Hastings, as home to RAF Fairlight, in the development of Radar during World War Two and links to notable local figures like John Logie Baird and Marianne North.

• Groundwork South is an environmental and regeneration charity focused on changing places and lives across the south of England.
