We’ve all crossed many rivers – physical and metaphorical – to get to where we are today. Here to There to Here: Hastings is the second iteration of a project first shown as part of the Riverside Artists Group exhibition, Many Rivers to Cross, at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, London, in September last year.

This time, artists Mike Abrahams (a member of Hastings Art School) and Francesca Giuliano invite people who live, work or study in and around Hastings to answer four simple questions:

• Where do you live?
• Where were you born?
• Where are your ancestors from?
• Where do you dream of?
• What will these answers reveal?

At the macro level the piece will represent a story of migration, diversity and aspiration. At the micro level it aims to encourage a sense of connection, introspection and empathy: “I too have a story”.
