The Government has approved funding plans for the construction of new flood protection schemes as well as the repair and maintenance of existing ones, across Hastings, Rye, and surrounding villages.
Some £6 million has been allocated for eleven flood management schemes to help protect thousands of homes and businesses over the next year. The schemes to receive funding include Pett Level, Tillingham and Brede sluices, the tidal basin at Jurys Gap and Broomhill Sands beach.

Local Labour MP Helena Dollimore welcomed the investment, stating it would “protect lives and livelihoods in our area while reducing the severe impact flooding can have on our coastal communities”.
