The Intergenerational Grants Programme is a […]]]> Generational conflict is an eternal battle where peace can seem ever distant. But that hasn’t stopped people trying to bring an end to it. The Intergenerational Grants Programme is a new attempt at doing so for community groups and organisations across Hastings.

The grant was launched as part of the Age-Friendly Hastings programme and will support projects that bring generations together and help wellbeing. These can include projects such as gardening, storytelling, music, physical activity and digital skills. Projects that help people learn from one another – no matter their ages. Projects that challenge ageism and age-related stereotypes.

Grants of up to £500 are available for those who need an extra boost to fund these projects. All with the objective of bringing people and communities closer together.

Cllr Solly Solamito, lead councillor for Corporate Services, Communities and Equalities, Hastings Borough Council, said: “Intergenerational activities create opportunities for people of all ages to connect, share skills and build stronger communities. I am delighted to launch this grants programme and encourage local groups to come forward with ideas that will help bring generations together across Hastings.”

The deadline for application is 5.00pm on Friday, 31 July 2026. A further round of grants will be launched in Autumn 2026.
