Friday 12th + 13th July 2019 On The Rocks Hastings. Free Entry

By Mia L

Daisy The Doctor Danger bought her one woman show to the seaside, for the opening weekend of Hastings Fringe. It was my first time at the On The Rocks bar and I felt instantly at home within the confines of its delightfully quirky interior.

Daisy’s show kicked off promptly at 10pm, in the basement of the venue. By the time I arrived the performance space was completely filled with a lively audience, ready to enjoy the show. A brief introduction later and the charismatic Daisy swept onto the stage, fizzing with charisma and lashings of pneumatic sass.

‘It’s About Time’ is a journey through space and time as we know it (Or do we?!) with Daisy, filling the role of a certain prime-time T.V. Doctor, as our guide. Daisy invites spectators to join her in ‘The TARDYAAASSS’ which, as the name might suggest, is actually a travelling time machine! The events which followed saw our host lamenting lost loves, various points of political discourse and even featured Theresa May…as a Dalek!

The show was further offset by a selection of sparkling musical numbers and humorous film excerpts. Daisy herself was truly a sight to behold, a vision of bouffant hair, with an impressive roster of carefully procured outfits. I found myself totally engaged with the hour long show and left with a big smile on my face, having thoroughly enjoyed my adventures in Daisy’s wonderful rainbow-coloured TARDYAAASSS!

Hastings Fringe will be holding a wide variety of arts-based events until August 11th 2019. Now in its fourth year, the Fringe promises a lively and exciting programme of shows, for young and old alike.
