Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA)
Almost all charities and community groups rely on volunteers. Volunteers’ Week, running from 1st to 7th June, is an annual opportunity to celebrate the contribution that these people make to the local community. What are you going to do to thank your volunteers and show they are appreciated?

HVA’s plans for Volunteers’ Week 2018 consist of three all-day public events, held together with local organisations, to raise awareness of the vital place volunteering has in our community, and encourage people to get involved.
On Monday 4th June we will investigate organisations dependent on volunteers that engage in projects related to food and food poverty. The event will be held at Ore Community Centre, in partnership with Hastings and St Leonards Food Project. On Wednesday 6th June we will be appearing in Hastings town centre outside Caffe Nero, and on Friday 8th June we will be in St Leonards town centre opposite the Advice Hub, in each case working with and showcasing local organisations that utilise and value volunteers.
We will also be organising the presentation of a Long Service volunteering award during the Week, and opening the nominations for the Against All Odds volunteering award for 2018. We are seeking more nominations for this round of awards – is there a volunteer in your organisation that deserves public thanks and recognition? For details and a nomination form, contact Pat Weaver: [email protected] or 01424 444010.
For further information about any of these Volunteers’ Week activities, or to register your interest in participating to promote your volunteer opportunities, contact Tanya Vice: [email protected] or 01424 444010.
