People in East Sussex are invited to an extra online public meeting to have their say on proposals by the local NHS to move mental health inpatient services in Eastbourne to a different site. This will be the third public meeting to be held as part of a 12-week public consultation closing on Monday 6th September.

The meeting, on Tuesday 24th August between 6pm and 8pm, will discuss a proposal by NHS East Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to move mental health inpatient services to new facilities on a different site.

The services, currently based at the Department of Psychiatry in Eastbourne District General Hospital, could be relocated to a greenfield site next to Mount View Street, North East Bexhill, or a site around Amberstone Hospital near Hailsham: the Bexhill site is preferred.

If approved, it would be the first phase in creating a leading centre for a range of mental health services on a single ‘campus’, which could, over time, address all mental health inpatient needs in East Sussex.

Programme Director, Paula Kirkland, encourages people to give their views by either attending the public meeting or through the alternative ways detailed on their website www.sussexhealthandcare.uk/mh-eastsussex.
