Local Care Homes Keep Residents Safe
We don’t yet know why rates of Covid-19 are so low in Hastings, but it’s interesting enough to be the subject of a study at the University of Sussex. The low rate of infection in Hastings care homes, see chart, could be part of the reason for this or part of the result. Whatever the reason, it is something to celebrate.
One example is Bethune Court in St Leonards. If this is anything to go by, safety is paramount in local care homes. As Victoria Willard, Home Manager at Anchor’s Bethune Court care home says: “The commitment, dedication and, at times, selflessness of my colleagues has ensured the residents are being cared for and supported in their usual routine by people who know them well.”
She also points out that they have been doing as much as possible to mitigate lack of contact with friends and relatives by supporting residents in the use of technology such as iPads and Facebook portals.
So a big cheer for care workers and for the care homes that have been keeping our elderly relatives safe.
