Get writing for Hastings Week Poetry Competition
Hastings Week Poetry Competition continues to be a successful part of Hastings Week held each year in October. This year, the theme is Love Hastings.
The competition is for all ages to enter and there will be the usual three categories:
• 11 years and under
• 12-17 years
• Adults (18 years and above)
It’s really easy to enter as all you need to do is write one poem based on the theme of Love Hastings with a maximum of 500 words and email it to the Deputy Mayor on [email protected]

Alternatively, you can send your poem via post to: Cllr James Bacon, Deputy Mayor, Muriel Matters House, Breeds Place, Hastings, TN34 3UY. You may only enter one poem for whatever category you are in.
Don’t forget to include your full name, age and contact details with your entry. The deadline for entering this exciting competition is Sunday 18th October, and you can enter now in September.
The winners will be notified by the organisers with certificates and prizes being presented to the winners. Poems may be used in publications supported by the Hastings Week Committee.
The panel will consist of three members: Deputy Mayor Cllr James Bacon, Cllr Judy Rogers and Actress Jenny Hanley.
The judging panel will be eagerly awaiting your entries, so get writing!
