Two artists from the little town of Bochum in Western Germany will be returning to Electro Studios Project Space in St. Leonards this July for their exhibition ‘Time Spins’, a site-specific intervention. Christian Gode’s current show entitled Stripes and Pebbles at Hebebühne in Wuppertal confirms the continuing influence Hastings has had on his work since exhibiting here last July (see image). Elisabeth Sonneck’s recent works take the form of ‘scroll paintings’ which are installed sculpturally alongside other objects, in response to the exhibition space.

This upcoming exhibition will present a unique visual dialogue between Sonneck’s colouristic nuances and Gode’s bold, graphic structuring of the architectural space. Their joint preoccupation with the personality of the exhibition space is powerfully apparent in the resulting work – a direct response to their environment, revealing the adaptability of artistic vision.

Christian says, “For me, it is great to come back after one year, to continue the connection with Electro Studios and Colin Booth. He came to Berlin and to Bochum this year with his show English Air (March and May 2019) at our invitation. I’m really looking forward to coming back to St Leonards-on-Sea and to encounter again the friendly people in this beautiful place.”

Time Spins’ opening event will be on Friday 26th July, 6-9pm. The gallery will be open 27th-28th July, from 1-5pm, and by appointment until 11th August. Electro Studios Project Space is on Seaside Road, St Leonards-on-Sea, TN38 0AL. Artists’ and studio’s websites: www.christiangode.de www.elisabeth-sonneck.de www.electrostudiosprojectspace.co.uk
