2 artists, 4 elements, 6 weeks, 8 women.

An embodied, ephemeral and experiential exploration of the elements for women through movement, site-specific artworks and meditation. Create a visual memoir of your journey through earth, air, fire and water and what they mean to you. Artists Clare Whistler and other local artists return for this third set of seasonal workshops and bring their experience with a wish to explore in place earth, air, fire and water. Two bookend workshop meetings to unfold and fold up the experience will be held in The Music Room, 6 The Uplands, Lower Maze Hill, St Leonards TN38 0HL. The other four meetings will be in locations chosen as being most expressive of each element, so be prepared for weather, i.e. the elements!

A previous participant said, “elemental is a six week course exploring the elements earth, air, fire and water from a creative perspective.  Using this most fundamental of structures it moves, almost like a living entity, around the town, alighting on a different location each week in which to take the exploration further.  Locations range from a gritty down-to-earth community based eco-friendly re-generation project in Ore, the great expanse of the airy West Hill, the watery expanse of the great master of the town, the sea, to the cosy hearth of a friend’s fire.  As might be expected, it is a course that explores extremes, from community to the personal, from the very large to the small, the searingly serious to the most silly and fun.

“If you fancy spending time with a group of more than likely like-minded friends, exploring your beautiful home area of Hastings and St Leonards, taking time to re-connect with the natural world and in so doing perhaps taking time to listen to those small quiet gentle promptings within, then this may be the course for you.  If you wish to listen to beautiful music, get your hands dirty in the mud, play with balloons in the open air, eat appropriately-themed nibbles and snacks and just have a bit of playful fun in the skilful hands of two highly qualified and gifted facilitators then give it a try.  If you don’t you may never realise what the elements might be trying to tell you.”

The workshops run on consecutive Wednesdays 10am – 12pm 6th June – 11th July 2018.
