Local writing and performing team Kate Tym and John Knowles (aka It’s Not Us) have already established themselves with a series of successful small theatre productions at various venues across Hastings and St Leonards. ‘Rat in the Cellar’, ‘Time Please’ and ‘Hitleria Pizzeria’ are just three of their most notable recent successes (see Kent Barker’s review of ‘Hitleria Pizzeria’, performed at The Horse & Groom’s Garage Theatre, in HIP issue 66 or on our website).

Now Kate and John return to the stage, this time at the recently refurbished Palace on Hastings seafront, with a brand new family play, based on an abridged version of Dickens’s seasonal classic A Christmas Carol. In this creative two-hander the theatrical duo play all of the parts themselves which is why they have cleverly called it A Penny Pincher’s Christmas Carol.

Suitable for all ages from six upwards, the show promises plenty of audience participation and chances to shout ‘Behind you!’ Kate told HIP, “It’s a stodgefree, fast-paced romp through this well-loved story of love and the true meaning of Christmas.”
;John added: “It’s Not Us are delighted to be working with this new Bar and foodery, the South Coast’s Largest Craft Beer Hall no less, on what we hope will be a series of theatrical events in the new performing area. So if you are not a fan of overpriced Panto’s with C list celebrities and you fancy something locally written and produced with plenty of silliness then look no further than A Penny Pincher’s Christmas Carol at The Palace.”
