Touched: Live takes place in Hastings on 19th May 2018. It will span two venues, Borough Wines and Printworks, featuring a line-up of live electronic music and DJs that includes Plaid and Steven Rutter B12, pioneers of the UK electronic music scene, associated with Warp Records. All profits will go to The Sara Lee Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support. James Weaver writes.

Touched Music was set up in 2013 by electronic musician Martin Boulton (aka Min-Y-Llan). So far, Touched Music has managed to raise over £70,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and is now one of the top three donors to the charity. Martin has curated a number of compilation albums on the label that feature exclusive tracks, donated for free, by some of the biggest names in electronic music, including Plaid, B12, Autechre, Amon Tobin, 808 State and Future Sound of London.

“The Touched label’s fundraising speaks for itself but a by-product of this good work has been the connections formed between artists and the community it has created. I’ve been introduced to so many amazing artists and discovered so much great music since I became involved.” Andy Turner – Plaid

“I have lost a loved one to cancer. It is a great honour for me to be able to share my heavenly gift of music with people and to do so via Touched in support of MacMillan Cancer Support makes it even more special.” Steven Rutter B12

The event is being promoted by Lucy Kork and myself. Lucy, a stalwart of the London electro scene, got to know Martin through a shared love of Warp Record artists Plaid and attendance at events such as Bloc and RPM festival. I am part of music collective Warrior Squares and promote experimental music events in the town.

While the live acts are all from further afield, the event itself is very much rooted in the local area and it feels just right to host it in the America Ground, a vibrant hub of creativity and good times. The venues for the event have been really supportive and we have been so lucky to have Zeroh Studios design an amazing poster for us. Japhy, Kim Cosmik and BUNCH are all local DJs and   producers on the electronic music scene in Hastings.

We hope you’ll all join us for this event, an inclusive celebration of positivity and the unifying power of music! An all-day rave up for a really good cause!

Tickets for the event and full line-up details are available in person from Borough Wines, 34 Robertson St or online via Skiddle.com

We hope you have enjoyed reading this article from Hastings Independent. The future of this volunteer led, non-profit publication would be far more secure with the aid of a small donation. It only takes a minute and we would be very grateful.
